What employees say

Is it the perfect job? Absolutely not. It doesn’t involve swimming with sea turtles or lying on a beach whilst people bring me cocktails (that’s a job, right?!). But in my time here, whenever friends and family ask about my job, my answer is always the same:“I love my job”.

Because I believe in what I do every day and the people I do it with. Because I never feel like I’m on my own. Because people care about each other and ask if everything’s ok, and offer help when it’s clearly not. Because we choose to spend time with each other outside of work in book clubs, football clubs, film nights and weekends away. Because if the job isn’t right for us, or with the user in mind, we say no. Because I laugh every single day. It’s because of the people I work with. And work for.

It’s why I know I’ll work here for a very long time.

What defines us

Humility, not modesty. We know that we’re good and we trust in our people, our skills, and our capabilities. But we also know that nobody is above making mistakes, and there is always more for us to learn. We talk with confidence, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Bravery, not bravado. We push each other to be better, take calculated risks, and admit when we’re in the wrong. We put our money where our mouth is, and hold the same high standards of ourselves as we do of our clients.

Compassion, not indifference. We care about each other, we care about the work we do, and we care about the world we live in. We understand that we all have lives outside of the office, and that our impact goes beyond the products we build.

Honesty, not lip service. We believe in straight talking and telling it like it is, without pushing an agenda. We strive to have open conversations that focus on the right thing to do.

What inspires us

Work from anywhere. We're remote-first, with team members working all over the UK and beyond. Work from home, from our office in Birmingham, from a global network of co-working spaces, or anywhere else you fancy - whatever suits you best!

Flexible hours. Work around our core hours to suit your life, whether that's starting late to fit in a workout (or a lie-in...), or finishing early to pick up the kids (or dogs...) from daycare.

Health, family & wellness. Healthcare cash plan (UK only, for now), plus enhanced parental and adoption leave.

Training & development. E-learning subscription, regular internal learning sessions, budget for books and courses, dedicated time for training, plus a ticket to our annual Canvas conference.

Giving back. Five days paid volunteering leave to go and do good stuff.

Getting social. Everything from book clubs, regular team and company get togethers, online and IRL, plus all sorts of special interest Slack channels (#gardening, #puppy-club, #loveisland2022...).

Action highlights

Listening to our team. We send out regular anonymous surveys to get feedback on things like wellness, happiness, recognition and satisfaction, and we run regular happiness sessions to chat about what's working and where we need to improve things.

Saying thanks. We give out high fives weekly, where 383ers can say thanks to their colleagues for being brilliant, and each quarter we nominate and reward values champions who've gone above and beyond.

Getting together. Every Friday, we down tools at 4pm to catch up on five things that happened in the past week, hosted by a different 383er each time. We also have regular coffee mornings and drop-in chats to keep us all together, even when we're working remotely.

Career and jobs

Application tips

We don’t believe in seven stage interviews, psychometric testing, or mass committees deliberating if you’re ‘worthy’ of being a part of our team. At the same time, we won’t just have a chinwag over a coffee and offer you a job on the spot either.

What’s really important is you feel we’re a fit for you, and vice versa, so we will spend time getting to know each other before we talk job contracts.

You can expect a transparent process that’s a level playing field for all candidates, a challenging brief to answer, a connection with a member of the leadership team, and a very friendly approach from our side. We want you to succeed and give you a stage to show the best side of yourself. After all, this is the type of challenge 383ers thrive on.
