About us

NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) is the national provider of corporate services to the NHS in England. Established by the Department of Health and Social Care as a unique joint venture with Sopra Steria, a European leader in digital services and software development, we provide a range of services to around two-thirds of all NHS trusts and commissioning organisations. This size and scope means we are able to partner with NHS organisations to improve efficiency and quality, save time and money, and support world-class patient care.

What employees say

"One of the main areas of focus recently has been on wellbeing, letting us all know that it’s ok to take a break from work and providing additional support if we need it. The provision of a flexible working also enables me to do the school run every day, which is really important to me.”

What inspires us

Our vision is to help the NHS save money and enhance quality, so it can improve health, innovate to save lives and deliver better outcomes with care and compassion. This inspires us to continually invest in corporate services on behalf of the NHS, developing new digital solutions and automation technologies that deliver faster and more accurate ways of working, alongside an enhanced, more intuitive user experience. By supporting the digital transformation of the NHS in this way, we can help save an ever-increasing amount of time and money for the frontline. And it’s this that inspires our people to continually strive for more. Personal Assistant Julie Watson explains: “I’m proud to be part of the team that has won a number of industry awards this year for our work on automation and the service we’ve provided to the NHS during the pandemic. I just love the commitment, focus and energy of the people I work with every day.”

Word from the top

"These past 12 months have been exceptionally challenging for all NHS organisations, so it’s a credit to our teams that we made it into the Best Workplaces listing for the first time. This isn’t about the badge, though – this is a public acknowledgement of the importance of our employees, and a pledge to continue to work as a team to identify the things that really make a difference to foster an inclusive and healthy workplace culture."
