What defines us

The Catapult occupies a unique position. We deliver access to facilities and expertise on which companies depend. We work closely with these companies to help them develop innovative new products. It is essential that we can be trusted to deliver, to retain our independence, to work for benefit of the industry as a whole and to maintain absolute confidentiality.

What makes us stand out as an employer is the flexibility we have and offer. Whether it is allowing our people to work from home whenever it its needed or the flexibility to create bespoke training programmes for an individual. Because of the size and set up of the organisation but also our open and people-based approach we are able to accommodate colleagues’ requirements with ease whilst from a business point of view it allows us to be agile and respond to outside impacts in an innovative yet supportive way.

What inspires us

Our company values of collaboration, innovation and trust are key in inspiring our people. We do a number of things to promote this and make the Catapult a more enjoyable place to work. Examples would be our regular Innovation Forums where one of the team presents to the rest of the Catapult on a subject such as their role, a new technology or a new initiative. The idea being that we all get to learn something new or get to know a member of the team better in a relatively informal environment where curiosity and questions are welcomed.

We are also a sociable team that enjoy getting together and even during lockdown times we have still continued with online social activities such as company quizzes, HIIT workouts and yoga sessions.

Word from the top

I am delighted that we have won this important accolade as a reflection of our employees’ feedback. The way that the Catapult team works together helps to drive an innovative culture. Practically speaking, I think a positive culture is driven by recognising success, sharing challenges openly and constantly and making sure our values and behaviours are reflected in the work that we do.

“Working at the Catapult has made me reflect on what I do and how I work. Every day the team are finding innovative solutions and working on incredible pieces of technology that will have a positive effect on individuals’ lives. They’re pushing the boundaries of what is possible and when you work with people who have these qualities, it makes you work more innovatively too.
