What defines us

Learning and Development is a fundamental cornerstone for Chugai. Firstly, it is important to us that our people have the right skills and knowledge to do their role, but we will proactively support their development for future potential roles.

We have supported numerous developmental opportunities for individuals such as MBA’s, Chartered Institute of Marketing and Agile coaching qualifications as well as supporting the government apprenticeship scheme. Perhaps more importantly we recognise that our people need to grow and develop for their motivation and future, this has certainly helped us to retain people and as an organisation as people upskill we see the benefits in what we can achieve.

In 2021 two European Programs are being rolled out and over 30 of our colleagues will benefit from upskilling around Innovation and how to deliver it.

What inspires us

We believe that our people should be empowered and inspired to creatively deliver their goals by bringing their whole “selves” to work. Given the events of 2020, its been vitally important to ensure our people are supported, as well as engaged and motivated.

We focused on wellbeing and connections, developing teams, and working groups that are given the autonomy and resource to deliver activities that will benefit our employees. Events like our virtual coffee mornings have been a great success, a fun environment that has allowed colleagues to stay connected.

An active social committee has kept the fun going with a variety of virtual team events; cocktail making, quizzes, pizza making, along with charity events to raise money for good causes. By following our belief, that our people drive our performance, we regularly celebrate successes both small and large. We’ve recently relaunched our reward & recognition system and regularly communicate about successes via our Yammer and LinkedIn.

Word from the top

At Chugai Pharma UK our culture stems from our people and that’s why we put colleagues first. Ours is a workplace where individuals can make things happen – for our customers, our patients, and for themselves. The key to success for us is providing the autonomy to deliver, but with all the support and resource necessary.

We pride ourselves on having a culture where people can grow and develop. We do this by creating the space for people to innovate, get involved in projects outside of their day-to-day activities and through bespoke personal development programs, identify what internal or external support they need to take their career to the next level.

We encourage you to look at our success stories and speak to our colleagues about career opportunities within our organisation

Application tips

Our values are:

Patient centric: to make each patient’s wellbeing our highest priority

Pioneering spirit: to pursue innovation by improving ourselves and thinking differently

Integrity: to create shared value with society, maintaining the highest standards in all we do

We seek people who comfortably and naturally align with these principles. In addition, we are looking to attract those people who are passionate about making a difference and who will take an innovative approach in their work. They must also be at ease working in a company with a family feel and where they are exposed to working on a wide range of tasks.

At CPU, we believe in The Power of Together. We know we can achieve more when we work in partnership, collaborate smartly and share expertise and experiences.

Our great workplace

We are working to seize the potential of emerging technology - to imagine new possibilities and transform outcomes for our patients. We need people to help us see and do things differently and play a key role in our ongoing transformation.

We give our people the respect and space to do their best work. We ask them to bring their individuality and drive so that we can continue to build our culture based on ownership and accountability. We want people who are motivated and authentic in the way they work.

We encourage our employees to contribute fully to life at Chugai. They don’t have to be restricted or defined by their role within the company, particularly if they have a keen interest in a particular topic. We have a number of project action groups that anyone can join to work on important subjects such as employee engagement, health and wellbeing, communication, recruitment and selection. It provides employees with great development and the company benefits from such great work.
