Thor Companies® is a specialist Search & Selection agency that focuses its efforts on sourcing the very best talent across Scandinavia with offices in London and Stockholm.

The foundations of the company have been built upon a unique cocktail of British proactiveness and productivity, coinciding with Scandinavian efficiency and the cultural awareness of its own people and geographies. Strategic Head Hunting for either freelance or permanent staff is the lifeblood of the organisation.

In the last few years we have enjoyed rapid growth. Going from being a small start-up we now have a strong mix of Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and British nationalities in the London Headquarters, who complement our local, in-country teams.

What inspires us

Our ethos is ‘One Team, One Dream’ and this is reflected in how we celebrate success! Alongside regular socials and fancy dress Sales Days, we take 2 annual holidays as a European business where everyone is invited. We ski in Winter and have visited Verbier, Chamonix and our new fan favourite Val THORens, and in the Summer we take a long beach weekend in locations such as St Tropez, Cannes and Valencia.

In addition, last year we sent 4 of our consultants from the UK over to our office New York. In part, this was in recognition of their good work and to help them achieve their ambitions of working in America, but had an additional bonus effect of adding some atmosphere to the smaller US office and showing them the way the UK office works day to day.

Our AGM is not restricted to just our board and non-exec members, instead, we use it as an opportunity to bring everyone together from across our international offices. During this, we reiterate our global values and mission, and we set out our strategy for the upcoming year, as well as celebrating the successes of the last year with guest speakers from within the teams.

The past 12 months at Thor have seen us invest in an experienced L&D Manager to take our training and development from good to great.

Since joining Thor, Gita has focused on our Introduction to Recruitment programme and we have seen a 40% increase in the speed to success for our new starters! We have built upon our career ladder to bring in a learning pathway so that all levels of experience are catered to and can have continuous development and training.

At Thor we pride ourselves on organic growth and the career development of our consultants; our Managers started as consultants and have worked their way up through the Team Leader stage. To support this further, we have implemented external training options for our mid-senior recruiters looking to follow a management pathway.

We also have a ‘Thorum’ group who meet quarterly; this group is comprised of individuals from across Thor who bring a trusted and unique viewpoint to the Directors. They are used as a sounding board for company decisions and often bring ideas to the table to increase engagement and make Thor a better company.
