About us

ISL Talent are a Bristol-based recruitment company with a difference.

To us, bringing great people and great companies together is personal. Because it’s the same journey we’ve been on ourselves. ISL Talent was founded 15 years ago by two recruiters moving away from stereotypical recruitment.

Now a team of 17, we focus on building long-lasting relationships with our clients that go far beyond transactional recruitment.

We practice what we preach, truly believing great people build great businesses. And our people are what make us special.

What defines us

To us, bringing great people and great companies together is personal. Because it’s the same journey we’ve been on ourselves.

We’re a team of 17 who practice what we preach, believing great people build great businesses. And our people are what make us special.

We’re proud to have a different way of working. Last year we introduced a 4.5 working day week to help give our team back something incredibly valuable- their time. Our team work remotely a couple of days a week, we have core hours of 10-4 and don’t clock watch.

At ISL, you’re given the tools to succeed- and the autonomy to do it on your own terms. We work together, but there’s nothing wrong with some friendly competition!

We’ve got plenty of incentives in place to encourage our team- from quarterly lunch clubs, team incentives, and team lunches to our bi-annual trips abroad.

We help startups become scaleups and we care about how we do it.

What inspires us

At ISL, you’re given the tools to succeed- and the autonomy to do it on your own terms. We work together, but there’s nothing wrong with some friendly competition!

We’ve got plenty of incentives in place to encourage our team- from quarterly lunch clubs, team incentives, and team lunches to our bi-annual trips abroad.

Our company org. chart offers clear progression routes and each role has a competitive salary range-with a wide band to allow movement within a role for recognition of hard work and results.

We’ve also introduced a wellbeing and personal development budget for every member of the team and teamed up with Heka- a wellbeing platform that lets our team choose what wellbeing looks like to them.

Our goal is to see startups become scaleups and all individuals thrive in the same way we do here at ISL. And we like to have some fun while we’re at it.

We believe there's never a dull day looking for bright sparks.

Action highlights

Being a great place to work is everything to us. Living our values is a key part of that. Our team created these, aligning us in all we do.

We know how important career mapping and progression is, so we introduced regular personal development plan meetings with every member of the team, and monthly 1-2-1's.

We've seen improvements in skills and revenue from our consultants, with promotions from almost everyone that was with us at the start of the year and our fortnightly business improvement meetings are a great opportunity for the team to sit down and talk about what’s going well and what we could do better.

We have flexible hours (core hours of 10-4) and a 4.5 working day week and everyone has a wellbeing and benefits budget to spend on Heka- an online wellbeing platform.

And the introduction of office dogs has proven to be a hit with the team!

We believe in strong teams, built better. And we started with our own.

Word from the top

"My co-founder and I set out to build a business that generates good numbers and has happy, engaged, and productive people.

Our experience working at old school recruitment agencies taught us a lot, namely how NOT to treat clients, candidates and our own team. We’re confident that over the last two decades we’ve mastered a much more positive approach.

A recruitment industry leader once said to me that you can be a nice place to work, or a successful place to work, but not both.

I disagreed, but for many years I’ve definitely felt tension between the two. Now, and admittedly only after 15 years of running a business, it feels that we’ve finally found the right balance.

We know that people are the key to a successful business, and our people are what make us special."
