We also host a range of regular events at the team and company level. This has been harder during Covid times but we hope to pick things such as the quarterly team outings, summer party, EOFY drinks, Big charity bike rides and the Christmas party back up when government guidelines allow. In the meantime, we have done these events virtually along with other virtual events such as quizzes, bingo, escape rooms and fitness/other competitions raising money for charity and keeping everyone social, connected and having fun!

Action highlights

One measure that HR put in place over lockdown was the coffee randomiser. Peoples names are put into the ‘virtual hat’ and are randomly matched up with someone else across the global business every fortnight to have a coffee. This helped people to build their professional network, get help with projects and meet new people, and really has gone a long way to combat the isolation people have felt during lockdown and helped to support their mental wellbeing. 

We also had two little BigHander initiatives over lockdown to recognise that families from across our global business now had their children at home and looking for entertainment. The first challenge had the kids complete different art activities. The second initiative was a letter from the CEO with a £10 amazon voucher giving thanks for all their hard work keeping their Mum or Dad on track and for the time we had taken away from their parents attention. The voucher was to use on something fun to help celebrate Halloween.
