Company Overview
Dare is an energy tech company harnessing trading expertise and proprietary technology to be the best-in-class trader for global commodities markets. We have grown to be the #1 liquidity provider in key markets across the energy complex and are expanding our footprint into new geographies and connected commodities markets. Our ability to generate liquidity and apply analytical rigour to these markets gives us our edge, and we continuously invest in new technology and analytics capabilities. We have consistently achieved incredibly strong growth since we were founded in 2016 and have strong ambitions to continue and accelerate our growth trajectory.
Employee comment
"The fast-paced culture is focused on excellence but there's also a sense of loyalty and reward for trying to achieve something - if you have a good idea, pitch it, make it happen - no unnecessary hurdles to jump through, and if it works, it's recognised. I've not seen that work so well at any other company I've worked at. Our socials and charity events keep us closely connected. Our 'Breakfast with the CEO' series for new starters is just one of the excellent ways of feeling seen and heard at Dare. Progress and change is a running theme across the business, and promotions are always celebrated openly with lots of care and attention. Managers are great at guiding their teams through any hurdles and colleagues feel supported and trusted to succeed."
Action highlights
Our People team steer our human resources strategy. Using our Business Partnering approach, they focus on operational and strategic objectives, supporting our managers with monthly business reviews. Improving engagement and efficiency is crucial to our colleagues’ development. By closely monitoring employee engagement levels with our Peakon surveys, we’re able to react quickly and collectively address areas of improvement. These surveys are also reviewed with managers ensuring a ‘you said, we did’ approach. We expect excellence at Dare and so we enable excellence in the most foundational sense – through the policies that help take care of our teams. In the past 18 months, we have upgraded all 25 policies, including 13 new policies that we’ll add to the collection by the end of this year. As an example, our enhanced maternity and adoption leave policies are industry-leading with six months full pay and six months half pay.
What Inspires us
We take a holistic approach to incentivising our teams, which directly impacts performance and thus financial results as a business. We prioritise mental and physical wellbeing to help improve colleagues’ experience, enjoyment and progression. Our list of perks include private healthcare and dental care, mental wellbeing first aiders and Employee Assistance Programme access, office massage therapy, free breakfasts and dinners, annual health checks, gym membership and walking treadmills. We also offer £150pp each quarter for socials that bring teams together away from work, and memorable summer and winter socials. Programmes to develop our teams are also kept evergreen and relevant throughout all colleagues’ career journeys and we use our employee engagement survey, Peakon, to closely review how we're doing.
What defines us
We aim to inspire thought leadership across our business, so open discussion, bold feedback, and creative thinking are welcome and expected. Everyone is informed and invested in our shared success. When it comes to our promotions, performance is rewarded immediately to keep delivery at a consistently high rate across all teams. It’s important that great work is reflected and recognised at the right time. DE&I is also integral to Dare’s DNA. As a scale-up, we’re always thinking about bringing together the best minds whilst hiring fairly. We’re proud to represent 40 different nationalities. Even with the majority of our workforce aged under 34, we are represented across every generation. Our values highlight our preference for a difference in opinion – diversity of thought is how you get the best solution – so it’s strategically important for us to allow anyone a seat at the table.
