About us

Our people are our greatest asset, which is why our people first approach greatly influences our culture. ‘Happy staff’ is our most important long-term objective, because we know that if our people are happy and can be themselves at work, it leads to happy customers and suppliers. Zen is committed to creating a better future through our community work, and local charities - chosen by our people.

Over 25 years we’ve built a reputation for providing the highest quality network and service to our customers – because we believe that a better-connected world leads to happiness for all; helping us to learn, work and play. As the only Which? recommended provider for broadband, Zen delivers excellent customer service and technical support and has been awarded PC Pro’s Best ISP for 18 consecutive years.

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously which is why we're already Carbon Neutral Plus, proud to be a B Corp business and excited to being Net Zero by 2028.

What employees say

Zen has a unique culture; one I've never seen anywhere else. What Zen says, is absolutely delivered - people are placed right at the top of every decision made. It’s collaborative, positive, passionate, and creative, and everyone, regardless of level, muck in to help colleagues get the job done and deliver amazing things.

People care about each other here and are always on hand to listen! Our working environment is spacious and creates a great working space whilst in the office. At home we have lots of activities to get involved in, a host of learning opportunities via the Learning Hub and the opportunity to get involved in charity and D&I activities – we can make a difference here and our opinion really does count.

Everything we do is geared towards our people, doing right for our customers, and through the work we do around the environment, we’re making a difference to our community and for future generations to come.

It gives me a huge sense of pride to work here.

What defines us

Zen’s whole ethos is about making the business a great place to work. Our mantra of ‘Happy Staff’ is reflected in everything we do – whether that’s our excellent holiday allowance, generous pension, heavily subsidised and discounted benefits, onsite nursery, social and environmental commitments or any of the other great things that make us an outstanding employer.

But it doesn't stop there - we know when our people are happy, motivated, trusted and empowered in their jobs, it makes our customers happy too.  This is why Zen is the industry's  only Which? Recommended Provider of broadband and has won the PC Pro Best Broadband ISP for the 18th consecutive year, while picking up the Best Web Host accolade for the third year running.

To quote our Chairman & Founder, Richard Tang: “Our values set us apart from the majority of our competitors, and have got us to the great place we are today. Our approach of putting people ahead of money remains critically important to our future success."

Career and jobs

Application tips

Interviews are a great way to meet new people, as much as it is about you seeing whether we’re the right fit for you.

Our selection processes are designed to help you promote yourself, never to trip you up. We want you to do well, so we’ve made sure our interview process is straight forward and enjoyable. This is your chance to get a feel for us, a chance to shine - so don’t be afraid to share all the amazing things you’ve achieved. With most roles you’ll meet us once, but there may be times when we’d love to meet you again.

We’ll keep you informed throughout the process and be flexible on interview times, where possible. We know you’ll put in a lot of time and effort finding out about all the great things we do here at Zen, so in return we’ll always provide you with feedback.

A top tip from our HR team is… be ready to ask us questions, this will make you stand out. We know salary/holiday is important, but we think getting to know your new manager, team etc is very important too.

Our great workplace

When you join us we want you to be ‘yourself’ - whether that’s working from home with your pet on your lap, or from our Rochdale headquarters, where you can meet our resident pet cat, Buddy.

You’re an individual and we embrace that. Why? Because we know that every one of us brings something unique. But we do have some important things in common; we’re passionate about excellent customer experience, we work together to achieve great things and we’re enthusiastic and welcoming.

Now we’re not expecting everyone to be one of life’s extraverts, but we do like people who are collaborative, innovative and happy to share knowledge and ideas to keep us moving forward.

You’ll need a tonne of passion and have a strong social conscience, because we believe that our business can be a force for good, that goes beyond delivering a good service. You’ll be part of a passionate team who are proud to be a B Corp certified business and who have ambitions to be Net Zero by 2028.
