About us

The Prince’s Trust helps young people across the UK to build the confidence and skills they need to live, learn and earn. 

 Founded by The Prince of Wales in 1976, the charity supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed, struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Our courses give young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping to develop self-esteem and skills for work. 

 Our talented workforce is at the heart of everything we do. It is down to their passion and dedication that we have been able to help more than a million young people to date, and that three in four of the young people we support move into work, training or education. 

We know that in order to effectively support the young people we serve, we need to create a culture and environment that enables our staff to do great work – and that’s why we’re incredibly proud to be officially named one of the nation’s best organisations to work for.

What defines us

Our people make us unique, and define who we are. Our colleagues support each other and work together to bring about positive change. We have a several energetic and enthusiastic colleague networks, creating a supportive environment and speaking to the organisation on behalf of our colleagues. They are critical friends, cheering us on to be better, whilst also celebrating our successes and diversity, offering a visible friendly face to any colleague who needs to talk. Our networks and elected employee reps act as a voice for the people, shining a light on lived experience and working with the organisation to bring about real change.

Both within and beyond our networks, our colleagues support each other on a personal level as much as they support each other on a professional level, and beyond regions and at all levels of the organisation. In addition to national panel discussions and activities like running clubs and yoga, local teams run coffee mornings, book clubs and more.

What inspires us

So many of our colleagues have daily interactions with our young people, and we always look for opportunities to share these stories and moments across the organisation to keep every person connected to why we are here. We invite young people to join internal panel discussions and to share their stories at team meetings and events. Young people are at the heart of everything we do and, in and amongst the business of meetings and deadlines, they give us perspective and spur us on.

We are people focused, offering flexibility alongside a generous annual leave allocation and additional time off at Christmas. Many of our colleagues move around internally, taking on new opportunities and seeking out new projects, where they build new relationships and learn from different areas of The Trust.

Our colleagues are united by the sense of pride they feel for the difference we make to young people - we believe that it is the work that we do with young people that makes us a best workplace
