About us

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was founded on 23 July 1868. It is one of the world’s most prestigious private members’ clubs and home to the world’s premier tennis event – The Championships, Wimbledon – the only Grand Slam played on grass. Each year, more than half a million people attend The Championships over two weeks, and Wimbledon is watched around the world by up to a billion people.

Our business has grown significantly in recent years and we expect that success to continue. In 2018, we acquired 73 acres of land adjacent to the All England Club, in addition to the 42 acres that The Championships currently operate within. This marks a milestone moment in our history and provides certainty for our future. We plan to continue heavily investing in our people and our facilities for many years to come.

Life at Wimbledon is a varied one. Our values of heritage, integrity, respect and excellence guide how we work and ensure that we always remain ‘In Pursuit of Greatness'.

What defines us

Our mission is to:

  • Maintain The Championships as the premier tennis tournament in the world - and on grass
  • Enhance the unique quality, character and image of the Club and The Championships
  • Foster the best interests of tennis, both nationally and internationally

Ever since the first Championships in 1877, we have worked hard to build a tournament that has become the pinnacle of the sport and one that every player wants to win. We are very proud of what we have achieved through hard work. We have upheld the belief that if we are going to do a job, we should do it properly.

We don’t always get it right. But we always strive to do things with our core values of heritage, integrity, respect and excellence in mind. This belief has resulted in a tournament that captivates the world. A place where people value etiquette and fairness, and have come to expect greatness.

What inspires us

Wimbledon has been built on a legacy of more than 140 years of history and tradition. Our predecessors built the foundations and now it’s our turn to guard that legacy, drive Wimbledon forward and plan for our future.

For two weeks each year, people come from all over the world. Our guests highly anticipate their visit to Wimbledon, and we want to leave them with memories to last a lifetime. It’s our time to create those special moments and to make Wimbledon better every day. We do it for them – the fans, the players and for each other.

Word from the top

The past year has brought with it significant challenges, both to us as individuals, and as a business. To have achieved this recognition against this backdrop is a reflection of the hard work, energy and passion shown by everyone in our organisation. Not just focusing on what we have to do, but much more importantly, how we go about doing it, and how we support each other along the way. I would like to thank each and every one of our colleagues for the role they have played in achieving this recognition.

Application tips

We're passionate about creating an outstanding experience for everyone coming to The Championships. If you think you have the passion and drive to deliver a world-leading sports event, then we'd love to hear from you.

Our values guide how we work and ensure we always remain "In Pursuit of Greatness":

  • Heritage - The traditions of Wimbledon are important to us. We are guided by them. But we must continue to evolve with them.
  • Integrity - We trust in our honesty, judgement and strong moral principles.
  • Respect - We are joined by our common goal, which has stood for more than a century. Every role - and every person - matters. Every role - and every person - is respected.
  • Excellence - The moment we achieve excellence is what we strive for. The moment we settle is when we cease to be excellent.

Our recruitment process focuses on our values as well as your skills/experience, but not all our roles require experience. We're always looking for people with a positive attitude and guest-first approach.

Our great workplace

Life at the AELTC is a varied one. From the preparation and maintenance of the Grounds, to the management of relationships with Members, Guests, Official Suppliers, Staff and Contractors. From the construction and maintenance of our infrastructure and IT, to the stewarding of our finances, heritage, and the delivery of our brand across broadcast, digital and print. From the creation of our tickets, the safety and security of our Guests, to what we give them to eat and drink, to watch and to listen to. From our role in the sport to our role in the community and the country.

Our roles are all different. But we are united by a common ambition, to continually improve on what we do, every day, and every year. It is our pursuit of greatness, our collective effort in our time as guardians of the Wimbledon brand.

It is what makes us successful. It is what makes us unique.
