What employees say

Rackspace offers so much. There's training, development, automation and a wide range of customers to work with. Everything is different every day. There's a real sense of togetherness with everyone I've worked with, and I'm excited by the future. If you compare Rackspace to other companies that offer a similar service, there is so much opportunity here, it's unreal. I get to work with the most talented, driven and genuinely engaged people, and I'm keen to see this continue. We're undergoing a few changes, but we're all excited about the future.

What defines us

Rackspace is a technology services company accelerating the value of the cloud for customers.

We meet customers wherever they are and get them where you need to go, helping them realise the power of digital transformation without the complexity and expense of managing it.

We deliver unbiased expertise through our comprehensive portfolio of managed services — across applications, data, security and infrastructure on the world’s leading cloud platforms — with proven results.

And we wrap all our services in Fanatical Experience™: the proactive, results-obsessed approach to serving customers that has driven us for two decades.

Our passionate experts combine the power of proactive, always-on service and expertise with best-in-class tools and automation to deliver technology when and how you need it.

What began as the idea of three Trinity University classmates has now become a global company with business customers in over 150 countries. While our headquarters remain in San Antonio, we employ more than 6,000 Rackers on four continents, most of them expert engineers who spend their days innovating and supporting the foundation of our business.

What inspires us

Our inspiration is derived from the amazing things our customers do – from powering cities to feeding millions. But we are also inspired by each other. We’re proud to recognise just a few of the many programs our Rackers commit their time and talent to every day including:

POWER – Power is a Racker volunteer group with the mission to create an inclusive community where women thrive and drive greatness at Rackspace. As a group, Power unites, supports and grows individuals in a trusted environment.

STEM – We are heavily involved in the STEM work placement initiative. We’ve partnered with Buckinghamshire University Technical College (Bucks UTC) to help educate 15-18-year old’s in an IT focused curriculum by providing work placements for students through their final year of schooling.

Rack Gives Back – Our global charity programme ensures we give back to the community in a tangible manner. It’s run by Rackers to make a difference. Staff can make requests to support causes of their choice. There is a Rack Gives Back Board made up of Rackers who plan company-wide activities.

To maximise the impact of the programme, we provide each UK based Racker with 100 hours of paid time to spend volunteering or fundraising each year, and often provide corporate contributions to cover any entry fees or associated costs.

These are just a few of the things our Rackers are passionate about.

Word from the top

At Rackspace we encourage Rackers to be the best they can, celebrating their strengths and embracing the power of individuality.

Our culture is underpinned by Fanatical Experience – our ethos that we always go above and beyond in our pursuit of excellence.

For customers this means we can bridge the gap between the complexities of today and the promise of tomorrow whilst accelerating the value of the cloud. For Rackers it means being immersed in an exciting, high performing and results driven environment, with an emphasis on fun.

Our commitment is to make Rackspace the best technology services company in the world, and I’m thrilled that we have been recognised again by Great Places to Work.

Career and jobs

Application tips

We call ourselves Rackers. That's not a title or a label—it’s an attitude and reflection of who we are, what we do, and most importantly, how we do it. There are certain characteristics that we look for which derive from our Core Values, whether you’re starting out in your career, or a new Managing Director. We use our interview process to determine a candidate’s ability to:

• provide Fanatical experiences to our customers;

• deliver results;

• have passion for their work;

• embrace change;

• fulfill a promise;

• collaborate and work effectively as part of a team;

• care about fellow co-workers

Our great workplace

We give back, we develop, we reward, and we include.

26,946 Hours were volunteered by our Rackers globally last year. At the core of every Racker is a drive to leave the world better than they found it and give back to communities. Rackers in the UK can leverage 100 hours of paid volunteer time off for any cause, and our Rack Gives Back programme creates opportunities for Rackers to give their time and talent to others.

5,181 Certifications are held by Rackers globally. Our internal learning department, Rackspace University®, provides training and development to Rackers – from Microsoft™ certifications to effective leadership training – their goal is to help Rackers grow.

350+ Fanatical Jackets awarded since inception globally. We also recognise Rackers for their outstanding commitment to our Fanatical Experience™ with the highest award in our company – the Fanatic of the month award.

As well as the characteristics that we actively look for, we want Rackers to come as they are. Cultivating inclusion is not just the right thing to do, it enables us to win. Our Executive Inclusion Council and Racker Resource Groups (RRGs) partner to enable an inclusive workplace and drive initiatives such as Rackspace’s participation in Mental Health Tea & Talks, International Women’s Day and Pride.
