About us

Adyen is the payments platform of choice for many of the world’s leading companies. We connect businesses to Visa, Mastercard, and popular global payment methods, in a single system. This makes it easy to deliver frictionless payments online, in-app, and in store. Our customers include leading tech brands like Facebook, Uber, and Spotify, retailers like Superdry and Tory Burch, and hospitality businesses like Wagamamas.

We’re headquartered in Amsterdam, with offices around the world. Adyen UK has offices in London and Manchester.

What employees say

I remember hearing about life at Adyen through my friend Marcus who was raving about the culture and how much he was enjoying his work. I felt I could not pass up an opportunity to experience this for myself so I asked to be referred for an account management position. From my first interview, I got a clear understanding of what working at Adyen would be like and have not looked back since. I have since recommended Adyen as a place to work to several more of my friends!

What defines us

How we work together is guided by the Adyen Formula. These eight principles are constantly evolving to keep pace with our merchants, our business and the growth of the team. The way we work is crucial to our success. It not only ensures speed, but also guarantees we continue to make good choices to build an ethical business, and secures the integrity of our culture.

The Adyen Formula

  • We build to benefit all merchants (not just one)
  • We make good choices to build an ethical business and drive sustainable growth for our merchants
  • Winning is more important than ego; we work as a team - across cultures and time zones
  • We include different people to sharpen our ideas
  • We don’t hide behind email. Instead, we pick up the phone
  • We create our own path and won’t be slowed down by “stewards”
  • We launch fast and iterate
  • We talk straight without being rude

What inspires us

It’s important for us to have a positive impact on each other and the community around us, which is why Adyen UK has identified the following areas on which to focus:

We’re committed to ensuring our offices run as efficiently as possible with effective recycling, reduced use of plastic, and a minimized carbon footprint. We also work with suppliers who comply with our high standards.

We want to keep our colleagues happy and healthy. Our kitchen is stuffed full of healthy snacks, we offer regular yoga classes, organize charity runs, and support each other to reach fitness goals through a bit of friendly competition.

Both our London and Manchester offices welcome people from a broad range of nationalities and backgrounds. We’re outspoken in our support for women in retail and tech; we host several women’s networking events, including an annual dinner. London Pride is celebrated from our London rooftop each year. And we’re committed to Increasing awareness of the needs of those with physical or mental challenges.

Action highlights

We put a lot of effort into making our UK offices great places to be. The atmosphere is friendly and informal with no hierarchy or closed office doors. Each employee is empowered to do their best work without being held back by layers of management. This helps to keep us agile and fast-paced.

We’re a sociable office. A free lunch is provided three times a week, giving you the opportunity to get away from your desk and catch up with colleagues in other teams. We often get together outside of the office for dinners and activity days. And we love to celebrate - Adyen UK is famous for it. We keep a well-stocked fridge of soft drinks, beer, and wine and we make sure we grab a drink together on a Friday. Each year we celebrate our best moments, commercial successes, and anything that makes us smile.

Regular trips to the Head Office in Amsterdam are a great way to get to know colleagues in the wider teams, and our annual Company Event in Amsterdam in June is not to be missed! On top of that, our Exchange Program gives you the opportunity to work for up to three months in the US, LATAM, APAC, or other European countries like Sweden, Germany or Spain.

Word from the top

It’s been huge fun growing Adyen UK from 5 to 57 colleagues over the past 8 years. Although we’ve grown fast, I’m delighted to see that the original spirit has survived. Everyone’s still happy to muck in to get stuff done, the atmosphere remains really friendly and we have a lot of fun. I think now we’re at a crucial stage of our growth where we can take what we’ve learnt so far to create a company we all want to be working for in 10 years - and I have no doubt we’ll nail it.

They’re match-winners

We can throw them in the deep-end and they’ll not only swim, but they’ll also give us the fastest lap time, working above and beyond the responsibilities of their role and scope.

The airplane test

They’re someone we’d enjoy sitting next to on a plane for 10+ hours. If we don’t want to sit next to them on the way to San Francisco, it’s unlikely our colleagues would enjoy working with them .

Our great workplace

We encourage employees to take ownership of their careers. As long as you’re willing to take the initiative, the opportunities are endless.

We come from all walks of life and various backgrounds. New insights stem from the collaboration amongst the 80+ nationalities we have working in offices around the world.

Our technology and expertise are trusted by some of the world’s most innovative and fastest-growing companies. You’ll be working alongside the likes of Uber and Spotify to ensure they’re always ahead of the game.
