A people-first culture, ethical leadership and high trust help Experian scale AI responsibly, improve productivity and unlock new growth opportunities.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape entire industries, many organisations are struggling to decipher how to accelerate digital transformation without leaving their people behind.

At Experian, the answer is trust.

Employing over 25,000 colleagues across 33 countries, the global data and technology company has built a high-trust culture where effective leadership, continuous learning and development, and inclusive innovation were in place prior to AI transformation. The result is a workforce that is embracing artificial intelligence at scale, while the business continues to deliver strong financial performance.

Experian generated US$8.445 billion in revenue in its most recent fiscal year, whilst continuing to expand the use of AI within its products, platforms and operations. Across 14 countries surveyed in Europe by Great Place To Work®, nine in 10 Experian employees say they are encouraged to use AI in their work and agree the company provides AI tools that help them do their jobs better, while 83% say they trust the company to use AI fairly and ethically.

“Artificial Intelligence is becoming a core driver of how we operate and grow,” says CEO Brian Cassin, pointing to productivity gains of approximately 10%-15%, with some areas exceeding 30%. The company has also identified more than US$15 billion in AI-enabled market opportunities spanning health, agentic commerce, Ascend platform expansion and embedded consumer marketplaces.

Culture first

Rather than focusing exclusively on technology deployment, Experian has spent years building the cultural foundations that make successful responsible AI adoption possible.

Employees report strong levels of pride globally: with 89% feeling proud to work at Experian and 90% agreeing that the company provides artificial intelligence tools that help them to do their job better.

That sense of trust is reinforced by strong support in the business direction, with eight in 10 colleagues agreeing AI will create new growth opportunities for Experian, and 90% understanding how their individual/team goals help Experian achieve the business’ overarching goals – reflecting a culture where employees see a future for themselves and the business.

Innovation with guardrails

The majority of Experian employees now use AI-powered tools, generating over 1 million AI interactions every month. The company has invested heavily in upskilling through their MyCareer portal, giving employees access to on-demand development support, powered by AI.

What distinguishes Experian’s approach is that learning is not limited to technical specialists. AI capability building is being democratised across functions, and leaders receive dedicated training through programs like “Leading with AI.” The aim is not simply to teach employees how to use artificial intelligence, but how to use it responsibly and effectively.

Leaders have been deliberate about balancing innovation with governance, guided by the philosophy that “innovation should always strengthen trust, not compromise it.” AI strategy is underpinned by a global governance framework, responsible AI principles, human oversight requirements, and a commitment to transparency, accountability and fairness. These guardrails are embedded into both customer-facing products and employee tools.

Confidence, not anxiety

Many point to the company's investment in reskilling and professional development as reasons they consider Experian a great place to work.

Technology alone cannot create competitive advantage

What truly drives performance is culture.

At Experian, employees trust their leaders and understand where the company is headed. They are given meaningful opportunities to grow and they believe innovation will create more opportunities. Those conditions are not accidental. They are reinforced by what Experian calls "The Experian Way," a values framework that ties together innovation, collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and performance. The result is a culture that not only supports AI adoption, it helps accelerate it.
