What employees say

I was prepared for the learning curve but the company culture took me by surprise. The importance placed around autonomy, employee engagement, and mental well-being was something I'd never seen before. It took a little time for me to adapt to this new way of working. I was used to being micro-managed and working with a top-down approach, management makes decisions and engineers follow. This is not the Jetstack way. At Jetstack everyone has a voice, everyone's input is valid and appreciated - Chance Whittaker

What defines us

Jetstack has tripled in size over the last 3 years. Our team is now 40 strong and works from 7 countries - 4 more than this time last year. On top of this, we have also joined forces with Venafi to deliver a wide range of modern, cloud-native security solutions. We attribute much of this success to having a culture that encourages continuous improvement and learning. Our guiding values are:

Curiosity - We embrace curiosity and innovation through experimentation and continuous learning.

Community - We strive to be an inclusive and friendly community where we respect one another and those we work with. We bring open minds and our whole selves to work every day.

Communication -We believe that good communication is the key to working most effectively internally, with our customers and the open-source community.

Autonomy - We're empowered to shape and contribute to Jetstack's growth by using our judgement.

What inspires us

Community: At Jetstack, we nurture our open-source and internal community by inviting people into the decision-making process, sharing regular feedback, and creating products and processes that focus on the end-user, whether it’s our client or a team member.

Innovation: Curiosity is at the heart of our company. We work with cutting-edge technologies and are always curious to test new approaches and ways of delivering value to our customers and internal teams. Without experimentation and play, we wouldn’t have been able to build cert-manager, one of the most widely used open-source products. It’s an example of a home-grown project that was built by a passionate team of engineers looking to solve real-life problems for developers.

Word from the top

A garden with only one type of plant is not good for the ecosystem. At Jetstack, we feel it is the same inside a company, and a diverse set of people, backgrounds, and thinking helps to strengthen our culture and business. By building that team, and then doing our utmost to foster creativity, innovation, and autonomy within a framework of shared objectives, we have built a company that is resilient but purposeful and works extremely well as a cohesive whole. We are delighted to see our work being rewarded through inclusion in the UK Great Place to Work.

Application tips

We look for people who have a strong interest in cloud-native technology and are passionate about the open-source community space. We are a visible force at cloud-native events and meet-ups and this is a strong part of our identity as we have been delivering to the Kubernetes ecosystem almost since inception.

Our application process is pretty simple; you will get a chance to speak to your potential peers for task assignments as well as meet the founding team that is still running Jetstack and is involved in the recruitment process. It's a great opportunity for you to gain insight into our culture, values, and ways of working.
