Special Award: Health and Wellbeing Supporter: Business in the Community www.bitc.org.uk
Winner: Procter & Gamble
Procter & Gamble has demonstrated an outstanding interest in the health and wellbeing of its employees through its culture, policies and communications, which make it a deserving winner of this year’s Health and Wellbeing Award supported by Business in the Community.
This award has particular significance in light of growing problems derived from unhealthy lifestyles throughout the UK. Organisations have a vital role to play in tackling this issue. Procter & Gamble is leading the way in terms of a holistic approach to investing in the wellbeing of their employees. They offer a wide range of working practices to ensure flexibility and accommodation of diverse needs. This is bolstered by not only a strong commitment to safety in the workplace, but also a pro-active approach to the health of individuals and care of their dependents. Initiatives include those related to occupational and environmental health, but also focus specifically on an interactive health assessment programme, and health promotion on issues such as sun safety and nutrition.
As proof that these measures are making a positive impact on its people, employees rated Procter & Gamble highly in areas such as safety, mental and physical health and work/life balance.
